Hi there
I have a Logitech extreme 3d pro joystick that I wish to use with MS flight sim.
I attached the joystick to an old 4 port hub I had but wasnt happy with the way the joystick behaved so I bought a new 4 port hub and attached the joystick to it. The PC is not seeing the stick. I have attached a web cam to the hub and this works fine and I have plugged the joystick into this socket but again...no show. It seems that my joystick is 'dead'.
My question is this....I do not have access to another PC so is there a test I can do on my PC to check if the joystick is indeed faulty or should I just go and buy another one?

Is there anything displayed in Device Manager, under 'Human Interface Devices, or in the Control Panel, under Game Controllers?

Did as you asked, and found an exclamation mark on 'Human Interface Devices'.
Clicked on it and tried to update the driver. However I got this message 'cannot find file...hidusb.sys '. My Pc asked me to insert my Windows 98 disc. The Pc I am using (6 yrs old) was never supplied with a disc so I do not have a 98 disc to insert.
Went to google and typed hidusb.sys and ended up at a site called Driver Guide.
I have downloaded the file to a temporary folder.
The icon in the folder is a small box that has 2 cogged wheels in it. I clicked on the icon and a window opened asking me what program I want to use to open the file.
Now what?

Please be aware that I am a novice at this and what I have just done is about the limit of my knowledge.

Double clicking on the file won't do anything, because what you've downloaded is a driver file, and it will need to be selected when updating the driver through 'Human Interface Devices'. I am not entirely clear on how Windows 98 differs from XP, as I haven't used it for so long, but there should be the option at some point in the wizard to select the file you downloaded, hidusb.sys.

You may also need to download and install this, if you don't have it on cd.

Joystick is now working:D
Your right....I looked in device manager, clicked 'update driver' and when a window popped up about the file I clicked the browse button,then clicked on the icon in the folder and now its working. Yippee!!!!
