Hello everybody,

I just installed Windows 7 on my pc and was trying to import to Firefox my bookmarks's backup file which is a json file, but windows 7 fails to recognize the file.

To check if there was something wrong with this file I just made a fresh firefox bookmark's backup and the problem persists. Windows 7 doesn't recognize it.

I already tried to find a solution on the net but came up empty handed.

Can you please help me?

Thanks!

What program did you use to back them up? Most likely you'll have to use that program to put them back into firefox. Basically what you should have done was just copy your bookmarks folder from firefox and then copy it back after reinstalling firefox on the new window install.

I didn't use any program. I just went to the firefox bookmarks and chose the backup function a then saved the backup to some folder. With XP the json file was automatically recognized.

So you have reinstalled firefox and tried importing the bookmarks from that file? If you backed them up with firefox then only firefox will recognize that file format. Has nothing to do with windows itself.

The strange thing is that firefox doesn't. As I said, I did a new backup just to try it and this new backup was not recognized. On the desktop only a blank sheet apeared with the extention .json. And when I try to import it to firefox, firefox sees no file at all to be imported. Strange! Can you please help me further?

OK, solved the problem. Went to restore backup and it did work. I think it's me who isn't used to work with Windows 7. Thanks very much.
