Just a quick question

i tried installing Windows 7 64bit and it froze. well didnt really freeze but it kept saying Launching Setup for an extremely long time. after this i found out my cpu couldnt do 64bit so i am gonna try and install the 32bit version which my CPU does support.

I need to know whether the fact that it being 64bit and my cpu not supporting 64bit was the reason of it taking extremely long to the point where i had to just give up waiting for the setup to launch ?

Yes.

You cannot run a 64bit OS if your cpu doesn't support it, but
your CPU should support it.

There may be some other issue.

:O WTF!

But i tried to put it on VPC and it said i couldnt install it because my cpu did not support 64bit. and when i tried bootin the machine up with it, as i said it wouldnt load the setup

You may want to trying burning another Windows 7 installation disk at a slower speed.

Like Bodaggit23 stated, the Athlon 5000 Dual-Core processor supports 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.

Have you checked your BIOS for virtualization mode. I believe that has something to do with running x64.

how can i know what is my cpu like? i mean, what OS does it support? i tried CPU-Z but haven't found an answer

Your hardware should work with Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit and possibly Linux Ubuntu 8.10.

There are other operating systems that should work with your hardware as well that I cannot think of off the top of my head.
