Hi

i bought some 1gb memory ram for my pc and i put it in today. When i turn my pc on it either goes past the windows screen and doesnt load or the tower loads the monitor stays off.

Can anybody help me on what i can do to fix this and have it working right?

Thanx

what RAM/mobo you got ? also try removing the RAM and give the slots a blow then install them again.

ive got a amd athlon 2600 xp. the ram is ddr, its definately ddr that i need, i checked beforehand. blowing on the port made no difference. anyone have any ideas?

If it's two sticks of RAM, try one stick at a time, and run memtest. You may simply have bad RAM.

Its only one stick and i cant run a memory test as my monitor doesnt load at all.

The light flashes green and it just says "No signal output" ive checked all the wires for the monitor and they are in fine. Also when i take the 1gb ram out and leave my normal 256mb ram in it seems to be fine.

Ive put the ram in other slots, tried just the 1gb one but still it doesnt work.

Does anyone know anything i can do now?

More info would be helpful. Like what kind of RAM does your mobo support: DDR PC2100, DDR 2700 etc. What is the maximum amount of RAM supported by your mobo? With the info at hand three possibilities cross my mind. 1. Bad RAM. 2. The wrong type of RAM. 3. Your mobo does not support the amount of RAM you are installing. For example if your max RAM is 1 GB and you have two DIMM slots then you can only install one 512MB module in each DIMM slot.

Have you made sure your GFX card is seated properly? Maybe it got shunted when you were installing the RAM?

Google everest and download it to your computer. Go into the motherboard tab and tell us what motherboard you have and what ram it supports.

The motherboard i have is the MSI KT4V (MS-6712)

I cant find the section where it says what ram it supports tho, can anyone tell me
where to look for dat?

hi

some mobos need a combination of 2 or 4 sticks of memory they wont boot with 1 or 3 sticks of memory check your mobo book
