So i just put together my computer, main components are:

Mobo - MSI P965 Neo-F
CPU - Intel Core 2 E6400
Ram - Mem 1Gx2 G.SK F2-6400CL5D
Video Card - 3D Fuzion 3DFR76256GSE 7600GS
Monitor - Hanns G 19' Widescreen DVI & VGA

I powered up the computer and all the lights come on and fans start going, but the monitor doesn't pick up any kind of signal. The light on the monitor just flashes like there is no connection going on. I have the monitor plugged into the video card with the VGA connection, and I also tried the DVI connection. I don't really know what to do or where to start looking. Thank

is the computer plugged into the wall outlet?

yes both the computer and the monitor are plugged in. Like i said, when i hit the power button on the computer it powers up and stuff starts to turn on. Just no picture

It is mounted to the case with all the plugs in it, CPU mounted with heatsink and fan attached, power cables all running to the appropriate components. Soundcard, Firewire card and Video card all plugged in.

if anyone can help me out i would appreciate it. I tried a different video card i had from my last computer and I tried a different monitor. Same issue.

is the video card in backwards?

....That would be impossible...
Stringer, I think we'd appreciate it if you actually read his posts. Why are you asking if the computer is plugged in and motherboard in? He said that it powers up, just no picture.

Check all connection and screws are in tight. I don't know what else to say. It could be a problem with the PSU not supplying enough power.
Also, try your graphics card in another computer also.

Just tried out the card in another computer and it works just fine. This is my first computer build so I don't really know how to troubleshoot the motherboard or CPU. Not really sure what to do from here, other then take it to the local shop and have somewhere there look at it.

I had the exact same issue for three days straight and one day I hit my space bar and a picture appeared... You want to talk about feeling dumb?

I'll bet you my dollars to your donuts that board is dead. Just strictly based on my experiences with MSI. Of course the other possibility is a DOA PSU or a power switch or something.

First short the power switch and see if it comes on. Then replace the PSU with one you have kicking around or can mooch from a buddy. Lastly take the board and send it to the man from Nantucket.

I did try another power supply that was rated 480w, and I only hooked up the essential stuff to test it. Same problem, no picture. I am not sure what you mean by shorting the power switch. If i just ordered this stuff from Newegg do i just contact them for a replacement.

Short the pins in the panel header on the mobo. See if it starts up. Chances are it won't, but at least try. If it doesn't then contact Newegg for an RMA.

Its a MSI board, send it back for a Gigabyte-Asus or DFI! I only tried 5 MSI boards in builds and had to send 3 back-DOA.

ill bet you dollars to my donut that Stringer is reatrded

you may not realize it, but the motherboard could be shorting out against the case... my sister's (shut-up, there's a reason i went for cheap) pcchips mobo had kinda a selective start process... it did more or less the same thing yours does...

but i realized that the motherboard was shorting itself out on the case... easy fix after that...

EDIT: by the way, the easiest way to tell if it's the mobo shorting out, is to see if the HDD or the optical drives are spinning...
