Just for good measure

Would the Corsair 520W power this system alright?

Core 2 Duo e6400
ASUS P5B Deluxe
4GB G Skill DDR2-800 RAM
R600
1 WD Raptor 150GB
1 500GB HDD
6 120mm Fans
1 Fan Controller

I'm pretty sure it will, but just checking again.

I would recommend less RAM, it can be spent elsewhere, along with issues that mobo has with more than 2gigs, it is unlikely you will see a performance increase. Unless you need it and I don't know what you need it for.

I run 2GB of RAM without a swap file and have no problems. 4GB is just overkill. As mentioned, spend the money elsewhere, or just upgrade later when it's actually needed.

Compatibility issues, not recognizing all 4GB and what not. Just some things I have read about. Spend the money and get faster RAM but 2 GB just a thought. If this is an upgrade why do you plan on going from a 6300 to a 6400, the only difference is a slight speed, especially if you over clock go with the e6600 and get the extra cache, another place your money is better off spent than 4 gigs of memory.

How is the extra 2mb of cache better than 2gb of RAM?
It really depends on what I do...

Running a server, SQL, video editing, etc..

EDIT: And there is more of a difference than slight speed, 1 higher multiplier... The stock FSB is all the same at 266.

Just answer my original question.

The Corsair should do the trick (although there's no way to confirm 100% until the cards are released, of course), although you'll require the use of a couple of adapters to get the required connections (R600s will use an 8pin PCI-E as well as a 6-pin PCI-E).

Its not often i see people reccomending less ram...

Mobos dont have issues with more than 2GB. Not for the last decade (other than random obscure mobo-ram-pair-specific compatability issues).

it is unlikely you will see a performance increase
Wouldnt that depend on what the RAM is being used for? ;)

Unless you need it and I don't know what you need it for
Not to mention the self-contradition....

4GB is just overkill
Try serious photoshopping. Try animation. Try video processing. Hell, try audio processing.

I think you answered youself :)

You need the RAM, none of that is particularly L2 bound (except possibly the video editing and even thats sorta pushing it)

No videocards were specified....
