Just recieved my pre-order copy of windows 7 home pre early.....anyone else who pre-ordred it got it yet?

I know you msdn sbscribers got it before anyone else but im talking about normal buyers.

Installing right now! Yay! no more RC.

I always meant to pre-order it but never got around too it :(
I shall be buying it on the day at the upgrade price to go from XP to W7 with a clean install. Serve me right for being lazy.:)

Im glad i did...£44 instead of full price.

Just got to the desktop...and to my amazement,Internet explorer is installed on it?

i thought us in europe wouldnt be seeing Internet explorer installed by default?:D

if i remember correctly this was an arguement from long ago, finally MS said they wouldnt put any browser in knowing it would make people mad and the whole thing was dropped from what i remember your stuck with IE by default. Im gunna actually look the case up

Yes, it goes back quite a while.

The EU is always looking at MS for ways to sue them.

Shame on you, Microsoft, for including your free browser!

MS would be better off with putting Mozilla as their browser ;)

OT/ Nah I forgot to pre-order.. :( But I was just going to buy the OEM one for 100$ :)

I for one would be happy if they did, but people would still complain because the choice is made for you.

I don't get it...browsers are free. Why pitch a fit over MS including one?

I think when you are installing windows it should give you a choice of what browser you want installed.

exactly. if you don't like it, DONT USE IT! (brilliant right?)

yea i think it would be cool for ms to give you the choice of which browser to install, but if they included firefox wouldnt the company have to be giving some sort of profit from the sales, since ms is selling the os if they were to actually include firefox on the disc. But either way i just download firefox as soon as i install windows ne ways

I think they have to include some type of Web Browsers because how else do you expect to be able to do anything? You have to have a web browser to find others to download. Without one, you would be pretty much powerless.

Unless, there is something i don't know.

You're exactly correct.

And why should Microsoft have to offer another manufacturers browser?

I bought a brand new corvette today, and it came with a choice of Ford steering wheel, Dodge steering wheel, or a GM steering wheel.

I chose the Chevy wheel, because I bought a Chevy.

If I want a different wheel, I'll have to use the Chevy wheel to drive the d@m car to go get another freekin wheel. :D

The EU didn't have a fit over inclusion of IE; it was more of the fact that MS didn't make it overly easy to install other browsers. In the EU's perfect world you would select the browser from a page of them. MS even went so far as to make an 'E' edition which had no IE in it, but then they scrapped it. The only problem is that some software - stupidly - requires IE for it's GUI.

How Apple gets away with a similar thing is beyond me though, and I'm typing this on a Mac, FF has to be installed in a not dissimilar way to Firefox on Windows. Perhaps the EU is afraid of big successful companies from outside the EEC... Surely not! :P

Just a quick warning to those who are thinking of buying. Avoid play.com like the plague, its extortionatly expensive (although im sure most of you know that already!)

:)
