Just got first SSD..

Well I just bought a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO to replace my 1TB HDD.

Question is, should I do a clean install or clone the HDD onto the SDD? Cloning seem MUCH easier, but clean install would be, well, cleaner??

Never done anything like this before, any thoughts or ideas? Thanks

If the OS on your current drive has no issues and is running cleanly, there really is no reason not to clone it to the ssd. If your existing drive is SATA then there probably isn't anything you need to do in the BIOS as it's most likely already configured for AHCI.

I'd just do a fresh install personally, there's probably a lot of unused garbage floating around your existing install anyway depending on how long you've been using it.

I cloned my platter to SSD. I don't see why you would need a clean install. Using the free AOMEI Backuper it will align the drive. Never defrag a SSD.

We are recommending a clean install, as now is the perfect time to perform one. When doing a clean install you get rid of all the crap that builds up over years of use, such as unnecessary applications, files that remained after software was uninstalled, multiple versions of plugins, etc.
