Well here's what I had. Bought it in 2000 new for $1,158.

Pentium 4 2Ghz processor
512MB DDR ram
64mb Nvidia GeForce2
20GB hard drive
Dual DVD-rom drive / CD burner
Windows XP

Here's the new system, cost $1,149.00

Core i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz
6GB DDR3 RAM
512MB ATI 4850
500GB Hard drive
Dual optical drives with Blu-Ray recorder
Media Reader
Vista 64 bit

So far I'm very happy with it. This system is so much faster it's hard to explain. But seeing what I came from it's not hard to understand my amazement. Vista is nice, doesn't seem like a huge jump from XP interface wise.

Both are Dell systems, and I bought pretty close to top of the line 8 years ago. I thought it was cool they were basically the same price.

Wow, that's definitely a huge improvement, no doubt about that. I'm glad you like your new system. I know I would!

lol you were just recently using a 20 gb hard drive?

so after installing xp you put sims on there and the drive was full? :-]

Yeah, the 20GB hard drive has been killing me. But I've held out because I knew I needed a whole new system.
