Just reformatted friend's computer, Internet (SB4100 USB Cable modem) DOES NOT WORK!

His BIOS information by the way is:

Award Modular BIOS v 6.0
Award Software Inc. ASUS P4B533 ACPI BIOS Revision 1007, 7/11/2002

Should I update the Motherboard driver, or the USB Internet driver (Or will the Motherboard take care of both?)

There's an edit button to add information to your posts, so you don't have to double post.

The first thing to do as you haven't already, is install the motherboard drivers that came on the motherboard driver disk. Then, by the looks of it there are two revisions of the USB 2.0 drivers for that modem, so download and install the 2.4.5 revision, that should work just fine. :)

you dont need drivers for the sb4100. do you have an hp or dell or what? if you used a cd go to the companies site and put your model in and look for driver downloads. and get an ethernet cable

The computer only has USB ports, not Ethernet ports (and he doesn't have an adapter).

Is this the right motherboard driver (he doesn't have a CD... he bought the computer custom built from his uncle's friend)?

If that is the right driver, then how do I install it?

The file is 1015.003.zip, and inside of it is just a file P4B533-1015.003

How do I install this?

In which category is "motherboard" in the DEVICE MANAGER?

Go to the Motorolla website, and download the latest drivers for your specific modem. Since you dont have internet, you may need to use a different computer.

And updating the BIOS has nothing to do with getting the modem to be recognized.
