the nivida geforce 6600GT was a 128mb video card but now I looked it at on newegg and it says its a 256mb. Is it a typo or did nivida change it to a 256?

they probably updated the GPU chip to support 256MB (basically thats what they do all the time to make more money, and make their products better).

well to put what ^said in more detail, you see nvidia 6600GTs come froom nvidia (of course) but companys like BFG and GFX dislike the standard card, so they ask for permission and upgrade certain things, e.g. cooling system, memory, clock speed etc.

but they are still Nvidia cards just been modified by the different companys

The 6600GT comes in both 128MB and 256MB versions. This is not a new development, and has been the case for some time.
