Kaspersky Internet Security conflicts with Avast?

Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 won't allow me install it until I uninstall Avast. I don't want to uninstall Avast since I don't believe KIS has an AV built into it. Is this assumption correct? If so, I don't see why an AV would interfere with a firewall... :/
Anyone have any info on this? There's no way I'm going to buy Kaspersky AV just because their software won't work with my AV of choice.

Some AV's won't let you install another AV. Why did you want to install KIS if you have AV?
If you want another scanner I would suggest you www.malwarebytes.org. It's a great scanner and it catches a lot of things. Note that you have to buy it in order to get the full feature of it, but I use the free version and it works great.

I don't get it why you have to install 2 antivirus at once.. That only give burden to your pc. KIS did have av built into it. If it was not, it should not be called KIS. And KIS is much better than Avast..

I was of the understanding that KIS is a Firewall. I cannot see anywhere on the box that it says it scans for viruses. If KIS is an AV, then why does Kaspersky also sell Kaspersky AV?

Kaspersky AV consist only antivirus while KIS consist of both AV and firewall. It also have other features that KAV doesn't.
