keep 2 external HD's the same

Good day guys
I have two external hard drives that I use to backup pictures and video's to.
I would like to have an identical copy on each of the 2 drives so I copy the files to one then to the other.
Is there any way (software) to keep the drives the same without using Raid.
After backup I like to move one to another location so I don't want to keep them connected to my desktop computer

You basically only have 2 options. Backup software or raid. However, I don't think you can raid usb externals.
 
thought this is what the sync function was in 7 professional or ultimate. Ive played with the function and guessing this would work.
