Maybe cuz you are better in Security. I must congratulate you, I've watched you posting here, and apart from this topic you did a nice job. Btw, have you learnt this at MalwareRemoval by any case?
Ok, now, you have a better firewall and popup blocker I guess...He doesn't.
So if he still wants to use IE 6.0 tell him to get a new Firewall.
Don't try some lame scanners. AVG, ESET, Panda...these are enough and if these do not find anything, with SpwareBlaster and Spybot, and Adaware...then there is no point in looking for Malwares.

Lol you can use all scanners and you will not find any infection. Everyone who still uses IE 6.0 is attractinh popups.
If you are so stubborn, at least explain this:
How on this precious world, did some pop-upped 'antivirus' scan his computer without him knowing??

it is called smitfraud... the malware is already on the pc before the popups start. The popups are simply there to get the victim to pay.

Yeah it's funny how I did not see any request to see a SmitfraudFix log (option 1) or even a Vundo log...

Updating browser must be done, there is a reason why they make new version... No just for the features but also for the security. GameMaster is right, IE 7 will prevent some infections but not all of them and that wasn't the problem here. He was getting pop-ups, that means he had the malware on his computer.
