Keeping programs from starting up?

I've got a really slow start up and i think its because i've got a couple apps that open in start up. How can i disable them?

In Winxp Start, Run, type msconfig... under the startup tab deselect anything you dont wat to start. then reboot.

HijackThis is another program that does about the same, but usally finds a few other programs that run during startup. Also, Spybot has a similar feature, but I beleive it just shows what msconfig shows.
