Im trying to fix up an old p3 800 to use as a server. The problem is it keeps restartin by itself. I have windows 2000 on it and it just seems to randomly decide when its time to restart. I have 512mb ram in it. I was thinking that it could be the hd stuffing up but then I dont know all that much about these things. Any ideas?

When was the last time the bios was updated? That was one thought right away on the board part of it. Another could be a failing power supply if the cpu isn't on the way out. With the cpu you may only need to reseat it with a fresh application of Artic Silver 5 thermal compound if if you are still running the stock heat sink and fan. An overheating cpu would see system restarts all times. How old is the system itself. Memory problems can't be ruled out either.
