key logger via email

Can someone please tell me if it could have been possible for my ex husband to send me an email that remotely installed a key logging program on my laptop. I was using panda anti virus and nothing has been detected. He apparently boasted how it only cost $30. He is voilent and unstable and I was totally freaked at the thought of him monitoring my activities. My activities have including correspondence with my lawyer, internet banking, emails and chat sessions with friends. How can I check if its installed? I am no longer using the laptop. How important is an I.P address? Can you determine ones I.P adress if they send you and email and then can it be traced? Can he face criminal charges for this? I hope someone can answer any of these questions. Can I get him back (lol), Joking

Hi,

Please download hijackthis (see sticky at the top of this forum) and post a log here.

Then go on to www.download.com and download Spybot Search and Distroy, Windows Defender and also Ad-aware SE (From this link: http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10045910.html) all these programs are free.

And remove all infected files.

Usually not but it may be in the message sorce (Only viewable with an E-mail client)

Can he face criminal charges for this?
Quite possibly, if you can prove it. Or if the enters a guilty plea.

Ok. I am underway but on crap dial up so a lengthy process. Thankyou. Have you heard of this key logger via email?
