Keyboard issue (Toshiba laptop)

Hi all

I have a Toshiba satellite l300 and i dropped it from about an inch but now it seems my keyboard is not working.

It seems it is stuck in Fn mode but i cant fully test it out as i cant login to my account and i have no guest account on my laptop.

Some keys work but in different configurations like backspace & spacebar each add a character (i cant see due to the only place i can type is a password field) z clears all the characters, H clears 1 character and i can also change things like the brightness.

Also I have tried using an external keyboard with the same results. Can anyone please help?

*EDIT* I can also turn the locks (im not sure what type of locks they are in particular) on and off but this doesn't help at all

This may work

Hold and press F12, Numlock, and FN keys at the sametime

Do it once and see if it did anything

Edit: On some laptops this is to toggle on/off the FN key

I have done what you suggested and it didn't change anything.

I have managed to log into my account using the on screen keyboard and when i get in everything seems normal with the exception that the ctrl key does not work in any form. But when I restart the computer the same problem re-appears.

Could this be a virus? i did a scan and there were no threats detected.

My next step would be to reinstall windows but I don't have a disk because it came preloaded with my laptop.
