Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new keyboard and mouse, but I don't want to spend loads!

I was looking at this one:

http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/shop/detail.asp?ProductID=3207&CategoryID=301&SubCategoryID=302

At only £11, it looks amazing! Read some reviews though and it said that it lagged in games, and when typing fast it would sometimes miss out letters.

My faithfull Stock Compaq mouse and keyboard have done me great over the number of years, but I fnacy a change...

Is wireless better than wired or not?

It'll be for gaming and general computer use, I don't want to spend more than £20 either, Hope you can help me out :)

Thanks

Alright mate,

You cant beat a wireless mouse & Keyboard imo...they are just much more free to move around...especialy the mouse as you dont have the damn cables all over your desk.

Just a reciever at the back of your desk or where ever you decide to put it aslong as it can pick them up.

Ive never purchased any Labtec products so i cant say if they are good or not but if you remember i made a thread some time back about getting some new speakers with a sub?...well i was looking at a labtec set but i never did bother getting them:D

But wireless are alot better,I game with mine and aslong as you charge it up often it wont die on you half way through the game lol.

My wireless keyboard that I previously had was never quite up to par for me... I could take it out of my room, even a few rooms away and type without a problem. However when I tried to type with it on my lap, it'd miss half the keys.

Now since then I have still kept a wireless mouse. You can find wired mice with higher DPI's and all, but seeing as I don't game that much, eliminating the cord is wonderful.

Probably the major problem with any wireless device is lag(many higher end ones seem to eliminate that) and battery life. If you're curious how long one will last, find the manufacturer's rating and half that :P

Thanks for the replies guys! :D

So, Get a wireless mouse as you're able to move it around more, but get a wired keyboard so that it eliminates any lag, like the what I read in the review of the Labtec one.

I think they do a wired version of what I'm looking for, I'll take a look...

Any suggestions or links to ones though?

the Logitech Black Ultra-Flat Keyboard - USB/PS2 gets my vote...it looks awesome with its glossy effect and Logitech are a great brand.

the mouse looks great too...im sure it will be good :)

well you know my opinion but i thought that i would say that i dont like wireless mice cause i have had problems with loosing the connection and the battery running out and not being able to find a new one ......... that took the piss :)
its a real pain when your playing CS:S

p.s Danny i asked her and she said she will :P :D :D

Wirless Keyboard & Mouse

I personally would stick with all wired keyboards and a wired mouse. I would just invest on a laser guided mouse, they are fantastic. yes you get more freedom with wirless operated keyboards and a mouse, but come on to be honest where are you going to walk with, with your mouse? Replacing batteries are criminal for dying all the time, and if they are not changed in time, then the batteries may leak, leading to having to buy a new mouse. So either get both wired or just a wireless mouse, but i advise, from experience, to get them both wired, but get a good qulaity mouse and keyboard.

If you want a cheap, slimline, compact, black keyboard then look no further than: http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=214256

I swapped my MS Multimedia keyboard for one as I wanted more space and am very happy. A slight bonus was that when I went in store they had an offer on where if you bought 2 i.t. works peripherals, you got the cheapest free. So I got 2 keyboards, one spare :)

As for a mouse, if the DPI is high enough then wires don't get caught on anything as you hardly need to move the mouse. I've had a logitech wireless in the past, it lasted a good 4 years before it started playing up. My other half had a cheap wireless mouse that lasted a year before it decided to randomly stop working.

I use a Razer Copperhead, very good mouse, especially for gaming.

Thanks Simon.

Thanks for the suggestion on the keyboard, but I think I'm going to go with the Logitech one as it's neat and looks great!

Yeah, you have a valid point with the DPI...

What do you think of the wireless mouse that I linked to? I think it looks Ok...

Do you put the mouse in the cradle when not in use, but how does this charge if the computer is off?

Also, Are they problems with wireless mice, like do they no respeond and jump sometimes?

If the mouse works the same way as my old Logitech one then the cradle is mains powered, so you put the mouse in and it charges. If it's mains powered it wouldn't need the pc to be on.
