Keyboard on laptop glitching

Hello,
I'm having problems with my laptops keyboard. The problems is that some of the keys don't always work. The keys are : a, q, tab, esc, 1, fn. The problem is getting worse. a few days ago the keys would just stop working for a minute or so and pressing a bit harder on them made them usable. as of late however, i have to use the on screen keyboard more often. I tried reinstalling the drivers and cleaning the keyboard but without success.
Because i am currently studying and have lots of papers to write, i can't afford to hand it to a serviceman for a week. If it's a software problem i'd much rather fix it myself. any help with figuring out the cause of my problems would be much appreciated.

Could be a driver issue, could be a hardware issue. Go into device manager and uninstall the keyboard then reboot the computer. If the problem persists it may be hardware which means you will need to buy a new keyboard. Ebay would have them. See this video on how to replace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZeOrsYwJWg

To be absolutely sure it's a hardware problem you could burn Ubuntu to disk and boot it and see if the keyboard still has problems.

It looks like someone else on the net had an exact problem with this model laptop, but in his case it was a new computer and he just returned it.
 
Probably a bad keyboard. You can pull it out, stick the part number in ebay, and order a replacement for pretty cheap.

I had issues with my Caps lock button (lol) and when I took it apart to clean the heatsink, the keyboard cable wasn't as secure as after I put plugged it back in.
 
So I disassembled my laptop and cleaned all the contacts, plugged the keyboard back in and voila, it worked! Well not exactly. After putting the laptop back together(yesterday) it worked. Today though, the problem is back. Considering that it worked fine yesterday, is there something that i did by disassembly that caused it to work or is it just a coincidence? Bare in mind that before taking it appart, the keyboard had not been working properly for several days straight.
 
When this happened to me I dug out a old USB keyboard from my parts box, plugged it in and used it until I could get a replacement ordered from the internet. If you do not have one sitting around you should be able to pick up a cheap one locally.
From what I said above you would be safe to assume that I believe you have a bad keyboard.
