Keyboard problem

I have an old computer that i had picked up recently so that i could have a computer with scsi port and such particularly because a friend was trying to info off a 8gb scsi hard drive. So here is my problem, i plugged the thing in for the first time and it came up with:
CMOS SETTINGS WRONG
CMOS DISPLAY TYPE WRONG
KEYBOARD ERROR

RUN SETUP
PRESS F1 TO RESUME
As you can see my problem its telling me to do something i cannot. It does not have a standard 6pin mini-Din port it has a 5pin din port which i researched online and found that 5pin din and 6pin mini din are compatible and gave me a wiring diagram. so i took the computer apart and unsoldered the old 5 din and underneath happened to be pre-exhisting holes for a 6 min-din port, so i had a junk motherboard and took one off and put it on this mobo put it back together and then booted up, same problem. then i found a site that said it may be a blown fuse, so i jumped out the fuse temporarily to see if that was the problem, and it wasnt. all suggestions welcome because i would like to keep this comp working, but im not objecting to work on it obviously. thank you.

CPU: PENTIUM 166MHZ
Mobo: BIOSTAR MB8500TUC-A
MEM: 4 x 16MB EDD SIMM
HDD: MAXTOR 20GB

You did have a keyboard plugged into it right?

Holy crap! Why didn't you just get another keyboard that fit? Or an adapter?

I'm guessing it doesn't have USB ports so that you could try a USB keyboard?

As for the CMOS settings being wrong, can't you just pull out the CMOS battery for like fifteen minutes and it will reset CMOS?

If you're soldering sh!t to fix this problem, then your skills may be far more advanced than mine. Just trying to point out the obvious. Cheers :D

yes i feel i can get by with my solder i have faith in it, i checked the connections.

I love to solve problems myself and im all about doing things free and improvising.

it has a set of pins on the mobo that say usb and i am doing some research on trying to find the pinout of those pins marked usb preferable from a sheet for the mobo so that i can plug in a usb to the mobo, but as far as external ports back or front their non existent.

I havent specifically looked for a battery but when i had it apart i dont remember seeing a battery, rather a box that was the computers time piece, from what i read.

I'm new to the area myself - from Odessa originally. ;)
