Keyboard problem

Hi, My dad has a keyboard and its not working... I'm some what a wiz at computers but this just doenst make any sense.. Heres the facts...
We have tried multiple keyboards but the only one that works is a usb type and only half the keys operate and every once in a while they swich like s will work and then it wont but f will and then it wont... etc. Wireless keyboards dont work but the mouse works perfectly fine. We've uninstalled the drivers to all the keyboards and reinstalled at least one and it wont even work... We've system restored it and that didnt help, and it cant be a problem with the hardware because the mouse works and its attached by one cord and thats wireless. I really dont get it... Someone give me more options or just give me a quick fix.
 
no its not broken because i've tried it on 1 regular keyboard, 2 usb keyboards and 2 wireless keyboards... on the wireless however both the mouses worked but not the keyboard. I dont get it, it worked on my computer, why not his.
