keyboard problems

just recently my keyboard decided to stop working completely. i tried re-installing drivers. I tried a different keyboard. my keyboard works in other computers.... but no keyboards work in my computer. i cant even get it to work in the BIOS so i'm thinking my ps/2 port is shot on the mobo. let me know if this sounds correct. then, if it is, can i get a new usb keyboard or a ps/2 to usb converter to get my keyboard usage back?

um. Reset your bios? If you reset it and plug in a USB keyboard itll work fine, with the bios settings and whatnot at least. If you get into windows and it still isnt reading, no matter what, if USB or PS2, id say reinstall windows

Don't reinstall windows. If it's not working in the BIOS I dare say it's a broken PS/2 port. Take a look inside at it and see if it's loose and see if all the solder points are still connected to the motherboard.

In Device Manager, does a keyboard show as being installed? If not, then the PS/2 port is bad. If resoldering doesn't fix it, then there's a mobo issue, and yer probably looking at replacement, and all the hassles that involves... unless you go the USB keyboard route.
