Keying in manual values in BIOS

Is keying in manual values in BIOS only for the people that know what they are doing

Or if someone were to tell me the values to put in, would it not be dangerous

Every time I go into BIOS, I see all these values sett to "Auto", especially particular voltages. This bothers me, thinking that my PC might perform better without default values, without the need to overclock it (I've never thought I needed to overclock anything).

If these settings are not set at auto then cpu and ram would be overclocking. I would leave things the way they are.

1. You need a good cooler when overclocking.
2. Have to go in small increments, go slow.
3. Have to stress test to make sure running stable.

Yeah, I think I knew about the small increments. I remember a friend telling me that he had to go something like .1Ghz or .01Ghz or something crazy small like that to keep the computer from crashing and bringing him back where he was.

And I thought stress tests were for any new device or refurbished device that a company wants to test everything out on, but now it makes sense why that would be needed. I suppose it would feel like "end of days" if someone did a 24-hour stress test and sometime during it, crashed, and was never able to start again because of hardware malfunctions.
