Killer Bug and Dx10.1

I have ordered a Geforce 8800 GTX ultra xtreme and Im thinking about cancelling it, I really don't want to but just read 2 pieces of bad news and really puts me off. So was wondering if anyone could restore my faith in the 8800GTX ultra xtreme I've ordered and give me some reliable answers?

Ok the first problem I read about is the 'killer bug' so its called found here:

http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=391

and second to that is the doomed release of 10.1 found here:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=41577

So should I cancel my order, get a cheaper card and then wait for Geforce 8900? Or will my 8800 GTX ultra xtreme which I've grown to love be ok?

Thank you.

Well, about the 8800 bug, did you go through and try the whole "get nvidia discount prices" thing? It was an april fools joke they did a while back. There is no killer bug that causes things to be rendered in the wrong spots. So no worries about that one.

About the dx10.1 thing, not really sure. Thats the only article ive seen so far about it. And even in the article it says that developers arent likely to use that protocol. Why would you if all your current dx10 user base is using the current cards. If its true I dont think you'd be seeing games using it for a few years so i dont think you really have to worry there.

I say go for the Ultra! if you have the money for it. Great card. Go for it man.

I was just worried because I dont want to get a dx10 card only for it to be out of date in November (told thats the release date fo sp1 vista) when dx10.1 comes out. but I know even some of the new games like Call of Duty 4 are only Dx9!

That first one is a joke and the Inquirer is one of the most moronic news sites ever. I have never had Vista driver trouble with my 8800GTX and my performance did increase A LOT! This card doesn't lag up during mass movement of 3d models like my old ATI did. GO FOR IT!!

I had an 8800GTS back in November of last year, and I didnt have any driver problems either.

As for DX10.1, from what I hear it's going to be released with Vista SP1, and all the current DX10 cards wont fully support it. But I also hear that DX10.1 has virtually nothing to offer gamers or programmers, so I wouldnt expect that you would miss out on anything.

Did you even bother to look at my link?

I heard developers don't get any benefit either...

What good does it do?
