Kit wont boot!

I purchased a computer kit, assembled the thing and when I turn it on it powers up with a single beep, the Gigabyte BIOS screen comes up on the monitor for 12-15 seconds then shuts down. The computer restarts 5 seconds later and continues to cycle like that until I unplug from wall. I guess my question is would this be a problem with the motherboard or something else? I have emailed Gigabyte and will try to get them on the phone today. Am I missing something simple? Overlooked something?
I've gotta tell you it is frustrating to have this machine not working. When the BIOS screen comes up none of the prompts from the keyboard do a thing.

Thanks for taking a look

I have a i5 intel processor
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 motherboard
8 GB Corsair memory
EVGA GeForce GTX 550 video card
Ultra 550 W power supply
No OS at the time

One step at a time.

Have you taken the RAM out and tried booting? The same with the video card? Perhaps both out at the same time to start with.

Thanks a lot for your insight. I wouldn't have thought about RAM or video card.
I just got off the phone with Gigabyte, and it was determined to be a bad stick of RAM.
With one 4 GB stick of RAM the machine will boot. Now the fun of exchanging product.

Thanks for your help and just the fact that this resource is here.
