L2 cache has huge impact on UT3 performance

As you see here E6550 outperformed AMD 6400+ in Unreal Tournament 3, this shows that Unreal Tournament 3 benefit a lot from L2 cache because there were huge difference between the processors that have 4MB cache and the ones that have 2MB or 1MB

If you notice also, Q6600 outperformed the higher clocked E6750. Unreal Tournament is one of the games that can utilize 4 cores

I'm not sure if a 2-3 frame increase from 6750 to the q6600 means it's utilizing all 4 cores... if it were using all 4 then it would probably have a much greater difference. Also maybe the L2 cache doesn't have anything to do with it and the 6750 is just a better processor than the amd 6400+?

I wouldnt look at that and immediatly think its the L2 cache, i would think the E4400 beats the 5000 + because of the core architecture more!

who cares about crazy fps? im goona have settings high with 1680/1050 so my video card is goona bottleneck first anyways.

and realisticly ur going from 130fps-->150fps with 2mb-->4mb cache look at the e4500 and the e6550

Lets not forget this is the demo, which doesnt support high-ultra high settings.

First of all, if the UT3 can't utilize quad core then Q6600 should perform worse than E6750. It utilize 4 core but you will not see a huge difference between 4 cores and 2 cores because the game is it is not optimized very well for Quad core.

Second note, I'm not the one who is saying that this game benefit a lot from L2 cache but AnandTech is saying that! just look at the other pages.

The benchmarks look pretty normal to me, I dont see anything spectacular that jumps out about it. You have some kind of weird fixation for Core 2s and bashing AMD. Why dont you just go buy one?

that wasnt the best graph from the article, and you confused people with you amd 5000+ talk

what they are saying is that if you take a E6000, E4000 and E2000 series cpu and run it at 1.8ghz, you will see an improvement in the fps corrolates with an increase L2. Now all these chips are pretty much the same architecture.inprovement.

Wrong. If some games can't utilize all 4 cores it only utilizes 2. Otherwise there would be no point to buying a quadcore if it either ****s up and doesn't work or only gives you 2fps more.

From looking at the test, it does utilize 3-4 cores, however it doesnt make effective use of all 4. It's just like when games became multi-threaded, where the difference was only 5-15FPS.
