This might be old, and I didn't see a thread, but I just noticed steam download the l4d authoring tools and all I can say is finally! Now we can finally have custom maps that aren't a pain in the ass to use!

Seriously it took them forever to release the thing, but now there'll be mods too. I've been getting bored of the survival stuff that's on there.
 
Hopefully the community can keep the game going. And this better not all of valves "continued support" that they promised in response to the L4D2 Boycott group (however this could be huge). I just hope(kinda expect) there will be lots of people willing to work and produce some decent maps.
 
Well I've been playing some user made maps and there are some pretty nice ones out there! I'm glad they finally added this, it's awesome to play somewhere besides the four campaigns and last stand.
