Lag, Do I need to upgrade something

So, I have an AMD 4800x2 2.5 ghz, 2gb of ram, a basic ECS mobo, and a 9800 GTX... running XP SP3
When I try to play farcry 2 I get hiccups. It seems to me that they occur whenever the physics engine would be called upon, but I don't really know.
I have the graphics on medium with no AA, everything else (sound settings ETC) is on low.
Is the processor bottlenecking my system, or is the graphics card simply not enough?

The drivers have been updated recently, and the hard drive de-fragging window doesn't say that there is anything terribly wrong.

Any suggestions, or is my CPU just too slow?

"Basic ECS mobo" = probably PCI-E x16, bottlenecks GFX.

CPU is a major bottleneck.

I would say you motherboard and CPU are major bottlenecks. Mostly the motherboard but also your CPU. If you have a budget let me know, if not, I'd suggest these upgrades
