Lags in HL2 Episode 1

Anyone else have this problem, or know of one with this game? The game seems to be running great, very smooth and all... Then it suddenly lags for about a second. I'm pretty sure it's not relating to the video card because I've dropped the resolution with no change.

What really confuses me the most is that I've not had any problems in my other games. FEAR Combat might slow down when there are a lot of players/smoke on the screen, but never these lags/freezes.

Eh, I think it fixed it's self... After running for a bit, it stoped. My computer does usally lag when I first start a game, but it was doing it continuously...

Could it maybe be the cores balencing out?

Cos Im running single core with only 1.5GB ram and have no startup lag on any game

I tried running the game on a single core with no difference. Its probably just something with how the game works. As I said will have a lag when I first start them(loading stuff into RAM I suppose)then it'll smooth out the rest of the time.
