Hi! I bought a TP Link Lan card (TF 3239DL) and installed it to my PC. The problem is that it does not acquire IP address automatically. I have to enter an IP address manually so that internet can be shared to it. Are there really LAN cards like this that dont acquire IP address automatically? Or it is just malfunctioning?

are you connecting to a router? if you do are there any other PC's connected to this router? and do they obtain an IP automatically.

Off the top of my head the only thing I can think of is to check if DHCP is set up on your router.

lets do this

i advice u should use the command 'ipconfig/all"at d command prompt.check if dhcp is enabled.it it is not,u should un check puting static at the properties
tab of the ip/tcp option on the card ppties page.

Start>Control Panel>Network Connections(Network and Sharing Center and click the option in the left pane that says "Manage Network Connections) in Vista)

Right-click your connection that shows and go to "Properties", highlight TCP/IP and go to "Properties". Make sure you have it set to obtain an address automatically.
