How do I get a T1 internet?
Or something that gives every use conneted to a LAN fast internet, for web browsing and gaming online.

Kinda like cyber cafes...

I ask cause i need a fast connection for everyone at my LANs.

Thanks

T1 is REALLY expensive and is several hundred I know. And that's per month so I don't think it's very practical unless you run a school or office building.

I am going to bring this up to the owners of the building, cause it seems that they want to upgrade there internet, since all the other buildings are doing so.

I'm pretty sure it's $1200 a month

How do you plan on paying for a T1 connection?

You never really answer when I ask, but are you only having LAN parties every now and then with a few friends, or all the time with tons of people?

The building Iam hosting it, the people and myself who live there.
The building is looking for a better internet connection.
They do not have a 'price'. They've got money.

They....They....will be paying for it. Not myself....

in that case have an ISP run an OC48 or OC192 cable connection directly to your building, you will have killer bandwidth and ping like 10ms on every game you play.

I have no idea what that would cost either, I just know its extremely expensive

Does verizon offer FiOS where you live yet? I get a constant 10megs off my cable at home but FiOS is supposed to get you like 15megs or something outragous...

My ISP's tech support said.
That if my router is connected to the switch, everyone connected to the switch will get my internet speeds.
Which I have the up to 6meg package.

So...

Is this true?

thanks

Yes it is, everyone will get the 6Mbps connection. But they wont each get their own 6Mbps.

I clarified that everybody connected to the switch will get individually 6bps connection.

the bandwidth is shared to your connection. So, if you have a total of 6MBytes of bandwidth and you have 12 clients on your network then those 12 clients share that whole 6MB of bandwidth. They do not get their own dedicated 6MB connection on your network, its shared. I think that is what Omega was saying

T1s are about $200/month I believe and yes if you are an educational orginization you sometimes get discounts. However, you must realize that a lot of times it is a fractal T1.

Once you hop up into the OC tiers it starts getting expensive. Typically only real high level orginizations (aka lots of money to spend) have OC lines.

In all honesty, your best bet and best cost would be to get some sort of business class Cable/DSL line. They are faster than a T1, cheaper, and allow more bandwidth (especially upload speed) than your standard consumer connection. The only difference is when you get a T1, the run a direct cable to your location, that is why it is so expensive.

well if you had multiple cable/dsl modems for each client then yes you could have dedicated connections to each one. Of course you would be paying the monthly fee for each modem at whatever rate it is for that connection. You could get a business class line with more bandwidth and then do a QoS setting in your router and set it so each client gets x amount of bandwidth.

tlarkin is right (as I said earlier as well). The internet connection get split up between all the users on the network, but its not split up evenly. So if you have say, 15 people on the network, one person can download lots of large files and take up to 99% or more of the internet connections bandwidth.

LOL! some T3 connections dont even cost that much! And schools use multiple (literal!) gigabyte Ethernet connections! You can get T1 for $130 from what I hear.
Schools dont use gigabit internet connections, you're probably referring to the actual LAN speed.

Buy multiple plans.

Everyone doesnt need their own dedicated 6Mb connection. Most smaller LAN parties only share a single high-speed cable or DSL line. Games dont use much bandwidth.
