Well, thread title says it all. I would buy this, but it's a bit too much for me (cheap for an FX60, but still expensive), and I have my eye on an Opty 165 on auction.
Lapped FX60 on ebay for £330

Well, as Opteron's are designed for servers, rather than your computer, they are made of a higher quality. They also cost more. The higher quality is the only difference between 165-185 Opterons and X2 Athlon's.
So, for example, an average Opteron 165 (stock 1.8GHz) would overclock that little bit more than an average (imaginary*) Athlon X2 3600 (which would be 1.8GHz, stock) (*not sure if 3600's actually exist).

id keep the X2 3800+... or get a core 2 duo. lol
FX-60 isn't worth it. you could get a core 2 duo and a new motherboard and maybe some memory with that amount of money... and then you could overclock it way past fx-60 clocks easily... not to mention its 1.25 times the performance per clock (approx. depending on the app as always)

Well, there are still S939 users out there, thought some might be interested. The seller pushed it to 3.4GHz, 3dmark stable, and its lapped.

how much are you willing to pay for an opteron 165, which i have been using for 6 month overclocked.
it works 100%, except if i do sell it to you, i guess i get to upgrade my pc already?!!! i dunno, i just wanna hear how much you are willing to offer...

To be honest, I have no idea why I want to get a Opty. Im starting to get addicted to overclocking, I guess, but definately DON'T have the money to fork out for a C2D set-up. Could you PM me (keep thread clean) what voltage you needed for 2.4GHz, and how stable it is (e.g., SuperPi stable, 3DMark06 stable, OCCT stable or dual-Prime stable).
It would be handy to have another S939 CPU, if i fry my 3800, though.
If you wait til the 17th, after 6.30pm GMT (when auction ends). Then I'll have an estiamte of a fair price for a 2nd hand Opty 165.
