Anyone try it? I've had my system for a couple months, haven't lapped the thermaltake yet Is it worth it? And should I lap the CPU too? Thanks.

More worth lapping the CPU than the cooler. I've lapped my Pentium D, and it dropped temps around 5-10C.

I used 320, then 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 grit. You can get the upper grits through an auto parts or supply store.

Most likely.

My opteron is lapped, and it didnt do anything, but its a hot chip, i think the IHS isnt contacting with the chip itself properly.

If you can afford to replace your components if it were to break, then go for it
