Hi all,

I posted earlier regarding some advice on what laptop (mobile workstation) to get to use for CAD, photos, music, documents (word and excel) and internet browsing.

I now no longer need it for CAD and was wondering if there are any suggestions based on the following updated min specs (ie. not fussed about video card now):

Intel i7 Quad core
8GB RAM
256 SSD
15"display (1080)
AU $1000-$1500

Possible models I've looked at are:

Lenovo ThinkPad P50
Dell Inspiron 15 5000

Thanks

If money is no issue, I'd suggest MSI https://register.msi.com/home VERY well built and your graphics card CAN be updated as ram can, the SSD M.2 drive, the 2.5" SATA drive and the whole enchilada. Usually, Laptops have limits but MSI makes there's to allow for longer enjoyment

Added: https://ca.msi.com/ out of Canada but there is an American store in California

Still going to say a lenovo that isnt a thinkpad, they make good stuff for a good bang-for-your-buck. Just never cared for the thinkpads

Thanks for that - I've been looking into the Lenovo options this time around too! (even if the Thinkpads seem to dominate at the moment)

Dont get me wrong, thinkpads are amazing laptops on the inside, they have great specs for their price, but the cost is cut in the case, my old school used them and i hated them.
