Laptop batteries

Is it OK to have my laptop's battery plugged in at all times? I've heard that if the battery is always in it's constantly recharging, and it's going to wear out really quick... any truth in this? If I'm rarely on battery power, should I remove the battery? I think somewhere I read that if the battery is rarely used, it'd be best to have it on, say, 40%-60% charge and stored in a freezer... I think that's off wikipedia. I'm just scared of hurting my lappie's battery... any advice welcome!

I have read a few websites that say if it’s plugged up like a desk top for more than a month then take out the battery. I have a few of the external and internal batteries that I keep in the fridge.

When I was looking at all the info a year ago I found a bunch of stuff googleing laptop battery life.
