Laptop Battery Disable

Hi,

I have a laptop and the battery has been disabled... now how i do i enable it again???

i have tried through the power settings and have had now luck.

Could i pls have some help

Laptop Information:
Windows XP
Compaq Presario 2500

What do you mean it's been disabled? You can't exactly disable the battery as it's basically a hardware aspect of the machine. Or at least, I've never seen such an option. Are you sure the battery hasn't simply shorted a cell and needs to be replaced?

Sorry i didn't explain enough:

I mean it won't charge the battery... It says that it is but is always on 0% (Charging).

The laptop is still able to be used but if the power disconnect than it turns off.

Now the battery was out for some period of time and then it was put back in and doesn't do anything.

Again, sounds like a bad battery. Probably not much else you could do other than replace it.

Is there anyway that i can see if it is the battery via a computer application at all???
