I fixed up an older Inspiron 1300 for my sister. I got it from a friend who had stopped using it because it was slow, gave away the keyboard, battery and charger, and took it apart into a million pieces and discarded all the screws... (why? I don't know)
Everything appeared to be in good condition though, and all it needed was some ram and a fresh install of xp (there didn't appear to be any viruses surprisingly). So I bought a "new" battery and charger (and keyboard) from amazon. The battery was at about 67% when it arrived, so I plugged it in to the new adapter (the adapter wasn't from dell, and has no manufaturer, but the battery says its DELLsony in windows, which seems to be dells usual) and it charged to 94%, The charging light started blinking green slowly, which it read means its fully charged.
So I fully drained and recharged the battery and it was at 98%. I did it again, and 99%. and that was as far as it would go. When it is left plugged in for a while, it will charge, then blink and say its full, then it will start blinking orange really fast. When it is started and blinking orange, the bios (which is updated) says the battery is functioning normally and doesn't need to be replaced, and it charging. When you unplug or boot windows and shut down it stops blinking orange. The light could have had something to do with the bios update I did once I got the battery (the bios updater wouldn't continue without a battery)
Then the charger stopped working. I thought it was odd that the power brick's light was off, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and didn't do anything. So I contacted the seller and got a full refund, and he didn't want it back. So today I plugged it in and nothing, so I opened the brick, and didn't touch a thing, and closed it and plugged it back in, and The light came on, and slowly faded away (much slower than if you had unplugged it, it took about 30 seconds of even fading from the time it came on). It just so happened that my parents toshiba laptop has the same charger (I checked the voltage and everything) and it works, but one time it tripped also, of course the higher quality adapter was fine after I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It never did that when I was working on it without the battery.
I contacted the batterys seller...

My battery arrived quickly and seemed to be in good condition, but I charged it up and it stopped [e-mail address removed]ows said the battery was still charging, but the light on the computer showed that it was full, I also went to the bios and it said it was at 94% and charging.
I drained the battery fully, and left it charging overnight, the next day the battery light on the computer was blinking orange about 5 times a second. I started the computer and it was at 98% and Windows still said it was charging. I drained and recharged it again, and it got to 99%, but it won't go any higher than that. When you plug it in the green charging light comes on, then it turns off and blinks green every once in a while showing it's fully charged (which its not), then it will start blinking orange. I tried updating the bios and I downloaded battery bar, and it show the battery only has 4% wear.
Unless you can tell me how to fix it, I would like a return or exchange, The battery was supposed to be new.
And he replied:
Thanks for informing us about the problem.
We feel very sorry about that.
What we sell is brand new batteries.
The wear must be for the manufacturer test.
Would you pls use it on your laptop to see how long it will last?
If it does not last long and work properly, you can return it to have a full refund or a new replacement.
Apologize for all the trouble caused.
Looking forward to your early reply.
Sincerely,
E-MALL (Thats not E-mail, its their name...)
Anyway, do you think this battery is safe to use, I guess I will buy another better quality adapter, but do you think I should ask for a refund now, or wait like he said, I can always file an amazon claim later if a problem arises
