I am sorry if this question has already been answered.....

I have just brought a new laptop off my mate knowing that it was broke. He says that it isnt charging and it is definatly not the charger.

My question is what could it be and how do i fix it?

Thanks in advance

Probably the battery is no longer holding its charge......I would go on the manufacturers website and price up a replacement battery.

Does the laptop power on when you just run it off the sockets? Without the battery plugged in?

the connections could be torn is it a thinkpad its very common in them ?? if it is its a take me apart and re solder connector!

It could be loads of problems... What's the laptop do? Anything when you try to power it up? Anything when it's plugged in (IE charging lights). I've seen laptops so dead they wouldn't do squat, and I've seen some that would show they were charging but never power up... From the sound of it the motherboard's probably gone, but best not jump to conclusions.

u could try gently moving the charger plug in the back of the laptop and see if the charging light flickers on the laptop if so that would mean loose connection on the board and u could resolder, or could just take the laptop apart and check it would be pretty obvious

You should replace your Laptops old battery with a new one and i am sure that your problem will be solved..
