Laptop...Builds?

I don't plan on doing this, but I was wondering if there was someplace where you could buy parts to build a laptop. I looked at NewEgg and they don't have all the necessaries.

Makes sense. You think that they'll eventually make it like that? Because of the rising popularity (that I hate so much)

i dont think it would ever happen!!

if all the companys standardize there parts they would be letting other people into the market which would prob loose them cash!

It will happen eventually. There was time when building desktop is in ur dream. Atm, we have sites showing tutorial how to build ur own laptop but the parts are not standard though. It might be a new market in 5 years perhaps.

Ya, I agree. I hate laptops because people use them as desktop computers and say they are better, when in fact they are defeating the purpouse.

The first computers you could buy you LITERALLY had to build. Such as the mits altair, which you had to do alot of work, the apple 1 was sold as a kit, etc. Laptops will never become standardized, manufacturers make good money from them, plus with all the different screen sizes, layouts, etc.. just not gonna happen..

I dunno
About the Altair 8800, when Bill Gates made the code to operate that computer, he created Micro-Soft

Um... They ARE better for certain uses, you try lugging a desktop computer around in a backpack.. Just wont happen, desktops have power and expandability but at the price of portability

As for laptops being standardized.. I dont see it, considering the very size of the unit varies wildly, there's no standard form factor for the motherboard, and I dont think OEMs will want to agree on a form factor because then they cant charge an arm and a leg for replacement parts

And how are laptops defeating a purpose?
