Laptop cmos battery

the problem is one of the leads connecting the battery to the computer is covering the model number. Should I just tear off these leads since it is dead anyway.
 
It should just pop right out. Try and damage as little as possible lol. But yes, try and get the model number, either way youll have to take the battery out.
 
No I meant it does pop right out but it is connected to two wires, these wires have metal pieces that seem to be soldered on the battery thus covering the model. But Next time I feel like taking my laptop apart Ill just tear them off.
