Dell is trash in my opinion. The best laptops, in no particular order are as follows.
*WARNING - this is my opinion based on owning, using, servicing, and supporting every brand of laptops for the past 10+ years*
1 - Asus
2 - HP (business class only)
3 - Apple
4 - Lenovo
All of these companies actually design their own components. They may not manufacture them but they design them. Where as a company like Dell re-brands parts by the lowest bidder.
Lenovo - I think they are only good at thinkpad line
Yeah because the Thinkpad line was carried through from IBM. Some of Lenovo's new laptops suck.
It's probably better to judge laptop quality by the model series rather than by the brand. As others above have mentioned, there are several laptop manufacturers who have good mid to high end laptops but poor budget laptops. The only manufacturers I would say that are consistently decent across the board would be Apple, and perhaps Samsung and Sony. Maybe not so coincidentally these are also manufacturers that tend to cost more compared to other brands of similar specs.
Lenovo - I think they are only good at thinkpad line
Its not more than 2k dollars, thats less than 100k rupees
What do u say about HP?
Their T and W lines are very good. Their mid-range Thinkpad Edge series, new for 2010, has been getting good reviews from both professionals and consumers.
