Laptop connected to a 120 hertz LCD

Hi

I have a Samsung 3d laptop. The screen runs on a 120 hertz. I tried with a HDMI cable to connect a 2233rz LCD monitor, who also runs on 120 hertz.

Problem : The only resolutution i can get 120 hertz on my 2233RZ is 800 * 600.

Any resolution over this , just sets back automaticly to 60 hertz?

Anyone know why?

For one what kind of gpu do you have? So if you have a intel HD 3000 or higher intel has software that is loaded and can usually be pulled up from the right botttom corner where you adjust all your resolution needs.
