hi there, i need to find a fairly good way to cool my laptop. currently the 2 HDD's run about 46c idle and the graphics card runs at 55-60c idle, this all creates heat and its like working on a radiator, is there anything that can "absorb" heat or cool my laptop down??
or does anyone have any ideas for "homemade" cooling??
 
The temps seem to be fine. What you can do is under clock it with something like Notebook Hardware Control (NHC, aka CHC- centrino hardware control). It'll clock your cpu down and lower your voltage, providing lower speed when not needed, thus providing less heat, less voltage, and extending your battery power. You can also get rid of the 2x 55gh HD's and get one big one, like a 100gb or 120gb. Less power and less weight with that. Another option is to get a notebook cooler to rest the laptop on, or prop it up with a book or something for better air flow underneath.
 
i ahve to books proping the back up to allow airflow, yeh i was considering getting one HDD, but i dont know what difference it would make heat wise and also i have had no good ratings for notebook coolers, how well do they actuallu work??
 
They do actually work, but remember, you're adding extra fans to the mix and they're exposed. Many people buy it and forget about that and complain about the fan noise and all that. As for getting one HD, yes it will produce less heat opposed to 2 HD giving off heat. 1 HD will also use less power giving you longer battery life and sometimes your motherboard will heat up using both controllers so much too (but not that much).
