Laptop CPU in desktop?

Can i use laptop cpu in the desktop? if i can will they perform as well as the desktop cpu?

Just for the obvious question, why do you want to use a mobile P4 2.5Ghz processor in a desktop, when you can find much better ones that will perform better, and are cheaper? Mobile CPU's are just that, they are designed for mobility, so thermal output is a big concern, but dont expect to overclock it like crazy or play intense games with it.

Im not certain if it will work or not though.

I am building a new pc, so i want to use my old one as a media center pc. But the 1.5 ghz p4 it has is very slow to the click. And the 400fsb p4 is kinda hard to come by.

these processes are extremely outdated but i didn't want to leave my old pc unused. It was my first pc. and it was my first Xmas present when i came ot the U.S
