Laptop display problem!

My problem is with a inspiron 1100 laptop. I know its old but its only been used twice.

So heres the problem:

I was using it PERFECTLY fine for HOURS getting things installed, antivirus ETC. I put it in a bookbag and took a walk over to a friends house. He only lives down the block and I took a slow walk down there.

When I got there I took it out of my bookbag to start it up. It starts up sounds and all but the screen is black. I dont get it. I plugged it into my friends monitor and its all working but when I unplug it theres nothing on the screen. So how in the hell could a 5 minute walk to my friends house make my screen magically stop working?

I already tried swapping ram stacks and using it without the battery and just the charger.

Any solutions? Anyone ever have a similar problem? Any advice?
Im clueless.

Hmmm.. That doesn't sound all to great.. I know somethings like that can break just by moving it around, or maybe it was it's time to go.. So there isn't any damage to the screen what so ever?

Maybe there is a loose connection between the screen and the computer.. Can you take it apart a bit and look around?

Haha I just finished up doing that I took the WHOLE screen off and unplugged and replugged the connection to the laptop AND the screen.

Im so clueless...I dont know what the hell happened.

Hmmm. Well it's not a loose connection then... My opinion is that it died :(
Wait for tomorrow to see if any other user on here has any other opinion because I'm stumped... Sorry

I know. It feels like you're clueless. But, you have to face it. It has to be dead. If you hook it up to another monitor and it works, and you took the display apart and disconnected and reconnected it. I'm 99% sure it's broken. Try to find a display on ebay or something.

What do you mean it's old but, only used twice?

It was my sister for college but she only used it one semester.....and only about 2 or three times. But its still from 3 years ago so that makes it old, but barely used.

Yeah, things just break sometimes. Old or not and it really sucks when they do but, I guess you'll just have to live with it. You can try to buy a new display or just always use it with another monitor.
