Hi.

I probable know the answer but maybe someone has a different view.
It is a Sony laptop (5 years old, but not used very often). A couple of weeks ago someone rung me and described the problem. Thay had power up the laptop. When it got to Windows, they had to make a right click on a touchpad's right button. After that Windows froze and they had to keep down the power button to switch it off. After that laptop wont power up any more, that means even if you press power button, nothing (nothing at all) happens.
Is there a fault on the motherboard?

Could be the motherboard...The best thing to do is to return the laptop for service, cause it's not easy to fix the problem by yourself.

I think you should enter the safe mode and then make sure the problem isn't exist.Maybe the microsoft system have mistake now.You can try to restall the system. If you do that thing, the problem have, you should send the laptop to the sony's service center to check the hardware test.

lol i dont think you get what he is saying. nothing happes. just like a dead battery. no actions can be done

maybe try taking all user friendly parts out and reseating them... like the battery, hard drive, memory chips, etc... if you don't feel comfortable doing that... i would suggest to have a professional look at it...

Well, I have done that. I even got anothe battery and tried that, bu no luck. I'll take it to someone to have a look on it.
Cheers everyone.
