Laptop for christmas.

This is gonna be the best christmas of my life. Im getting a laptop for christmas. I wanted one since I was like 12. Im a gamer and a programmer who focuses on game design, But sadly I know very little about hardware. I was hoping that someone could suggest a (expecially) cheap, yet (somewhat) powerful laptop that i can put on my list. Also i need some info on my options for a wireless internet connection. Thanks for the help.
 
Well what kind of games will you want to play? And can you give us an approximate on the most you can spend?
 
We'll I can play my high performance games on my desktop so price is more important than power. The most I can spend would probably be around $600 :( . I hope i can get something decent for that price.
