Laptop For College?

Hi,
I am thinking of getting an Apple MacBook for college (yes, i am buying for the logo)

But are there any real disadvantages of a Macbook, apart from its so-called "poor, value for money"

I will be using it for storing my work, (is microsoft word available on an apple?)
and basic design.

Is it the best choice for me?

Thanks,
Kieron.

The value (hardware) for the dollar is pretty bad.

There is a version of office for macs, though as I recall it is pretty expensive.

For your purposes you could probably spend less money on a computer that you can get from best buy or something and be just as well off.

It is avaiable for Mac's you just have to get this program for $100 that will let you switch from windows to Macintosh when ever you start your laptop up, as well as you have to buy either vista or xp..

I'm in the same boat as you, stuck between Mac or HP, hard decsision cause Macs are amazing laptops and comps

If your not worried about spending extra for the name I don't see much reason not to go with a Mac. There's also the fact of compatibility though if you want to load certain software and they don't have it for Mac. If you're going to install Windows on it then I definitely see no reason to buy a mac as it is a dumbed down version with some compatibility problems. However, the choice is yours!
