alright long story short i need a laptop for college. i've been a windows user ever since i started using computers. at this point i've heard so many good things about the macbook pro and macs in general that i would really like to get one but my dad keeps telling me the same old apple story all windows user start telling : "you'll have compatibility issues.." and it goes from there. anyway i really like the way the os looks and feels and the features it has. now do you guys recommend me switching over from windows to mac? and recommend me a laptop whether it is the macbook or another that would fit my needs:

i'm going to study telecommunications...

so i'll be working with a lot of audio and video. also i'll love to get a powerful laptop that does both things awesomely cause i produce beats in my free time and record (songs and videos). and last but not least i'd like for it to be at least a decent laptop to play some online games on. i currently play a mmog when i'm really bored so i'd be nice. thanks guys! oh by the way i don't play games that really require some serious graphic card power really so a normal one would do as long as it's pretty good. thanks a lot guys.

Hmm, do you have a budget? For college, I'd go for a 15.4 inch screen or smaller (you'd want portability I'd imagine) so you can take it to classes or to the learning resource center (library) easily. As for mac or windows..Since you do alot of "artsy" things in your free time as hobbies perhaps a mac might not be a bad choice for you. I don't know what to suggest mac wise, but if you take a look at Dell, they offer very nice notebooks that are friendly for the college kid price and spec wise. Other than that Asus, HP, Toshiba, etc etc are all very strong brand names in the notebook world.

this is probably the 20th time ive recommended this, but the hp dv6500 is a good 15" gamer, and the hp dv9500 is an awesome 17" gamer.;)

dell inpiron 1720 :D or if you prefer smaller screen 1420 or 1520 :D

although you missed the $300 off coupon that expired on the 19th. i used it hour before it expired :)

savings of over 500 dollars. though without the coupon is still cheap or you can wait until they have another coupon for it. very nice laptop and you can pick the color of your laptop :D they also have the latest wireless n cards ($25) thats supposed to triple the bandwidth that of b/g cards.
